Report from last night's prayer meeting
Jim was actually able to speak with James before the prayer meeting. These are some of his requests that were prayed over. Please continue to pray for them:
That his lungs stay clear.
For no infections.
That despite the pain medication he would keep a strong, clear mind.
Against nausea.
For his barium swallow test to go well next week. It is scheduled for one week following the operation, so it will fall on Monday or Tuesday.
Kathy just called. James' talking time is about 2 minutes before he gets tired. He is now able to do a full lap around his wing. James says it's a mile, but Kathy said it only feels like that for him.
Kathy was home with the kids last night for the first time since the surgery. Her mother is watching them while she and Jame's sister Susan are staying with James. Keep lifting up their sons Jake and Michael through all of this. This has been a difficult week for them, as you can imagine.
Also pray for joy to fill James and his family in the midst of all this. Continue to pray that they be blessed and reassurred.
Back to the prayer meeting: It was very good, and there was a good turn out. Pastor Linda pointed out that she's observed many of the kids praying for him. She walked in on her daughter Rebekah praying with Fran Warren. Rebekah was praying the Armor of God on James.
The Armor of God comes from Ephesians 6:10-18. Please take a moment to pray it over James and his family now:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (NIV)
